It's May 2015, and we are uncertain of what we want to do with our lives.

Our friends are graduating college and people are moving away. Yet here we were at 19 years old and still not a clue of what we wanted to do for a living.

 

What we did know, however, was that we weren't content with the idea of a life that included working for someone other than ourselves.


The Death of an Idea - The Birth of ENTRPRNR

"The day I thought up the idea of ENTRPRNR was the very same day a mentor of mine gave me three unthought of reasons as to why my language learning app concept would fail.

Ironically, from the death of one idea came the birth of a world-wide social movement.

ENTRPRNR was born."

May 15, 2015 | I met with the Pejman Ghadimi , the owner of Secret Entourage , to pitch him an app idea for consumer friendly language learning. After he made me realize why it wouldn’t work, I sat in my bed that night playing around with the word Entrepreneur. The word ENTRPRNR was born but I did not know what industry I wanted to penetrate.

 

I thought up the idea of creating an entrepreneurship-focused lifestyle brand named ENTRPRNR. I was, and still am a techy guy (a total nerd at heart) and had previously dabbled in all things computers. I coded private servers for an online game called Runescape , created automation scripts and even created a proprietary wealth generating process within the game.
 
All was dandy until I needed a logo for the brand. The problem was, I had zero experience in graphic design. Enter David, co-founder of ENTRPRNR who was currently working as a graphic designer and fulfillment manager at a screen printing ecommerce shop. I asked David if he was willing to help me create a logo. He agreed to help under one condition; I had to tell him what the logo was for. I agreed and told him the ENTRPRNR brand concept, and David instantly fell in love with the idea. The next week, David came to me with a list of actionable steps we could take to start up the brand.

 

The concept behind the brand was to fuse the motivational-niche content circulating throughout social media channels like Instagram and Facebook, and incorporate them into everyday garments like shirts and hats.

 

We joined forces and got straight to work with zero business experience and no product.


We started ENTRPRNR in my living room.

No angel investors. No venture capitalists. No experience. Just my living room, a solid friendship, and an eagerness to create something bigger than ourselves. We were both broke, and invested every last penny we had to our name into the launch of the brand. Two weeks after the inception of ENTRPRNR, we had our first batch of designed shirts.

 

Our Motto was born; Stagnancy is the Enemy. Action is King.


We Quickly Became OBSESSED.

September 21, 2015 | We became obsessed with producing content, taking photos, marketing, social media, networking, and perfecting our craft as well the online community we were building centered around entrepreneurship and "creating your own reality.” We wanted to make a statement that ANYTHING was possible if you set your mind to it. Every one of our initial Instagram posts had the general idea of "Get inspired as you watch two unexperienced teens build a brand before your eyes from scratch."
 

We wanted to show our peers as well as the world that two teens could and would take a chunk of the Oligopoly that ran the clothing industry.

 
We quickly adopted a strong work ethic. Our lack of business experience proved and still is proving to be the most effective learning curve. Defective product? It doesn't get shipped. Perfect product? No such thing. Even perfection can be perfected; back to the drawing board.
 
We were never satisfied and always hungry. We continued to only want the best for those who wear the ENTRPRNR brand, and stopped at nothing on our quest to give every single entrepreneur a brand that they can identify with. Our mission was to create the ultimate experience for our ENTRPRNR Family.

Our FIRST Black Friday...

Courage, humility, and hustle. A diet of homemade fajitas, Colombian coffee and learning from the best of ecommerce via free Youtube videos filled with value and content. We had built our social media followings to a few thousand people, and were pushing product one shirt and one hat at a time. We wouldn't want it any other way. We consistently go out of our way to over-deliver every single time. Why? Because our customers mean absolutely everything in the world to us and without you, there is no ENTRPRNR.


EVERY. SINGLE. CUSTOMER. MATTERS.


There are no shortcuts to success. We would much rather take the unpaved road.


It's about the JOURNEY, not the Destination.

It always has been. We need to experience life, not let it merely experience us. Don't not waste another second. It's our time to do whatever, whenever it strikes us. Let's go! But let's not chase the sun. It can chase us. If it dares."

March 2016 | We don't believe in failure; only learning experiences of which we've had plenty of by now. Defective product orders, failed advertisement campaigns, growth capital incorrectly spent on the wrong things. We've been through our fair share of bumpy roads and dark stormy nights. This is what it's all about though, isn't it?! This is why you and I are entrepreneurs! We LIVE for the thrill of uncertainty and risk! Why? Because with great risk comes great reward.


We began developing our physical location retail distribution network, and luckily, struck up a few contracts with several local store owners (after so many turned us down) who saw the vision and understood our brand. It was at this moment that we began to build the humble foundations of our future commercialization.


Here comes the growing pains...

Growing pain is the best pain. It doesn't physically affect you, but you feel it in every cell of your body. Growth promotes one of two things inside of an entrepreneur. One, it can engulf you and cause you to slow down, back down, or give up on your vision. You must never allow this to happen. Two, it affords you a new outlook and perspective on your industry and in your business that allows you to scale faster and more efficiently.


There is no progress in the comfort zone. The comfort zone is where dreams go to die. Anything that causes you to feel uncomfort and forces you to expand is beneficial and productive in the long term. It is OKAY to feel overwhelmed. What is not okay, however, is to let that emition get the best of you and your progress.
We wage war on comfort.


In Resourcefulness Lies Survival.

Summer 2017 | "This is a good thing David, I promise. We are in a better position now than we have ever been. A year from now we will look back at this very day and realize it was one of the greatest catalysts of ENTRPRNR's success."


Our community is growing. Brand family members are sending us photos of themselves crushing their days wearing The ENTRPRNR Brand. They express how much they love what we do and how our hustle inspires them. Customers send us countless emails expressing how our clothing is their ultimate conversational ice breaker in social situations: “Nice shirt. What exactly do you do, ENTRPRNR?"


The only problem was we were running around like headless chickens. We hit a growth wall. We had outgrown my living room, and no matter how supportive my mom had been since our humble beginnings, she eventually had to sit us down and tell us to get a place of our own. Challenge accepted.

Amazon, Apple, Google, Disney, HP. What's the commonality?

They all started in a garage.


We were, and still are, reinvesting every penny back into the brand. We knew that if we truly wanted to see ENTRPRNR forcefully take a chunk of the global clothing market, we would have to bootstrap as much as we possibly could. What does that mean? That means every penny counts. If we were to spend money on a monthly warehouse payment, it would eat into the speed at which the company scales. Less money for development equals less growth. It's an unfortunate reality of business. Patience is key, and believe me when I tell you it has NOT been easy.


So what did we do? We did what we do best: solve the issue at hand. After some intense negotiation and deliberation with David's mom, she agreed to let us completely gut her garage and establish the new ENTRPRNR Headquarters. It was a lengthy process of about a month during the chaos of orders during the high holiday season. We had established a drop shipping system with a local producer just to be kicked out one week later. David and I freaked out for a total of 5 minutes, then decided to do everything ourselves. We built a production line, stationary inventory holders, installed lights, installed flooring, and restructured wiring. You name it, we figured it out.


Today, we are happy to announce we have an official ENTRPRNR HQ built with our own hands. Our future was now fully dependent on our output. Truly something we are extremely proud of and can call HOME.


Teamwork Makes the Dream Work.

"We arrived at a fork in the road; we can finally begin paying ourselves or we can continue investing back into the growth of the brand.

What did we do?

We started to build our family. Our TEAM. We would much rather invest in someone we see potential in than pay ourselves. Why? Because we're in it for the long haul. Entrepreneurship isn't a short term game, its a marathon. Invest in people who invest in you."

PRESENT | We were slowly dying, draining ourselves of every last bit of hustle we had in our bodies. We were consistently working 14-plus hour days and had hit a growth plateau. We were spreading ourselves thinner than prosciutto. Every day increasing our workload only to realize we could not do it alone. It was time for a change. Since then, we shifted our focus to building a solid team of people who we believe in and who believe in our vision as much as we do. Investing in people who invest in you is essential for growth.

 

With our team we have been able to create content showcasing our behind the scenes struggles to show our audience what it takes to make it as an ENTRPRNR. Additionally, we have kickstarted the “My ENTRPRNR story” series, where we document local entrprnrs on the come up and showcase their journey on our blog.


THE VISION

So what’s next? We will continue building the dream team and never lose sight of our mission of building a culture rooted in the mindset of “creating your own reality” through transparency and value driven content. We will over-serve our customers and always strive to produce better product.

 

We will create a main line of high end garments better than what is offered by high fashion brands for a fraction of the price. Once this is established, we will produce limited edition collections by season to provide an individual/different look for our customers.

We had built our social media followings to a few thousand people, and were pushing product one shirt and one hat at a time. We wouldn't want it any other way. We consistently go out of our way to over-deliver every single time. Why? Because our customers mean absolutely everything in the world to us and without you, there is no ENTRPRNR.

There are no shortcuts to success. We would much rather take the unpaved road.

March 2016 | We don't believe in failure; only learning experiences of which we've had plenty of by now. Defective product orders, failed advertisement campaigns, growth capital incorrectly spent on the wrong things. We've been through our fair share of bumpy roads and dark stormy nights. This is what it's all about though, isn't it?! This is why you and I are entrepreneurs! We LIVE for the thrill of uncertainty and risk! Why? Because with great risk comes great reward.


We began developing our physical location retail distribution network, and luckily, struck up a few contracts with several local store owners (after so many turned us down) who saw the vision and understood our brand. It was at this moment that we began to build the humble foundations of our future commercialization.


Here comes the growing pains...

Growing pain is the best pain. It doesn't physically affect you, but you feel it in every cell of your body. Growth promotes one of two things inside of an entrepreneur. One, it can engulf you and cause you to slow down, back down, or give up on your vision. You must never allow this to happen. Two, it affords you a new outlook and perspective on your industry and in your business that allows you to scale faster and more efficiently.


There is no progress in the comfort zone. The comfort zone is where dreams go to die. Anything that causes you to feel uncomfort and forces you to expand is beneficial and productive in the long term. It is OKAY to feel overwhelmed. What is not okay, however, is to let that emotion get the best of you and your progress.
We wage war on comfort.


In Resourcefulness Lies Survival.

Summer 2017 | "This is a good thing David, I promise. We are in a better position now than we have ever been. A year from now we will look back at this very day and realize it was one of the greatest catalysts of ENTRPRNR's success."


Our community is growing. Brand family members are sending us photos of themselves crushing their days wearing The ENTRPRNR Brand. They express how much they love what we do and how our hustle inspires them. Customers send us countless emails expressing how our clothing is their ultimate conversational ice breaker in social situations: “Nice shirt. What exactly do you do, ENTRPRNR?"


The only problem was we were running around like headless chickens. We hit a growth wall. We had outgrown my living room, and no matter how supportive my mom had been since our humble beginnings, she eventually had to sit us down and tell us to get a place of our own. Challenge accepted.

Amazon, Apple, Google, Disney, HP. What's the commonality?

They all started in a garage.


We were, and still are, reinvesting every penny back into the brand. We knew that if we truly wanted to see ENTRPRNR forcefully take a chunk of the global clothing market, we would have to bootstrap as much as we possibly could. What does that mean? That means every penny counts. If we were to spend money on a monthly warehouse payment, it would eat into the speed at which the company scales. Less money for development equals less growth. It's an unfortunate reality of business. Patience is key, and believe me when I tell you it has NOT been easy.


So what did we do? We did what we do best: solve the issue at hand. After some intense negotiation and deliberation with David's mom, she agreed to let us completely gut her garage and establish the new ENTRPRNR Headquarters. It was a lengthy process of about a month during the chaos of orders during the high holiday season. We had established a drop shipping system with a local producer just to be kicked out one week later. David and I freaked out for a total of 5 minutes, then decided to do everything ourselves. We built a production line, stationary inventory holders, installed lights, installed flooring, and restructured wiring. You name it, we figured it out.


Today, we are happy to announce we have an official ENTRPRNR HQ built with our own hands. Our future was now fully dependent on our output. Truly something we are extremely proud of and can call HOME.

PRESENT | We were slowly dying, draining ourselves of every last bit of hustle we had in our bodies. We were consistently working 14-plus hour days and had hit a growth plateau. We were spreading ourselves thinner than prosciutto. Every day increasing our workload only to realize we could not do it alone. It was time for a change. Since then, we shifted our focus to building a solid team of people who we believe in and who believe in our vision as much as we do. Investing in people who invest in you is essential for growth.

 

With our team we have been able to create content showcasing our behind the scenes struggles to show our audience what it takes to make it as an ENTRPRNR. Additionally, we have kickstarted the “My ENTRPRNR story” series, where we document local entrprnrs on the come up and showcase their journey on our blog.


THE VISION

So what’s next? We will continue building the dream team and never lose sight of our mission of building a culture rooted in the mindset of “creating your own reality” through transparency and value driven content. We will over-serve our customers and always strive to produce better product.

 

We will create a main line of high end garments better than what is offered by high fashion brands for a fraction of the price. Once this is established, we will produce limited edition collections by season to provide an individual/different look for our customers.
